Press release – RVM Systems certified for the UK Deposit Return Scheme

16 RVM Systems models certified for the UK Deposit Return Scheme

The broadest certified range on Exchange For Change’s first list, covering freestanding, bulk-feed and Proline machines for every store format

Stockholm, Sweden, 5th November 2026 – RVM Systems, the Swedish manufacturer of reverse vending machines, today announced that 16 of its models have been certified by Exchange For Change, the trading name of the UK Deposit Management Organisation (UK DMO), for use in the UK Deposit Return Scheme -DRS-. The models appear on the first list of certified reverse vending machines, published on 29 October 2026.

With 16 models across three machine families, RVM Systems has the broadest certified range of any supplier on the first list. Retailers preparing for the scheme’s launch on 1 October 2027 can choose from a full RVM Systems line-up, from compact freestanding units for convenience stores to high-capacity bulk-feed solutions for large supermarkets.

The certified models are:

  • Freestanding (10 models): RVM X2, X3, X20, X30, eXtend 100 and eXtend 200, the X2 Screen, and outdoor shelter versions of the X2, eXtend 100 and eXtend 200
  • Mega (bulk-feed, 2 models): RVM Mega with Proline+ and RVM Mega Duo with Proline+
  • Proline (4 models): RVM X Proline, X Proline Slim, X Proline Duo and X Proline Duo Slim

Each model was assessed independently by PPS against the 77 requirements of the Exchange For Change RVM specification. These cover the identification and acceptance of eligible containers, fraud prevention, connectivity with scheme systems, accessibility and the secure handling of transaction data.

“Certification of our full range is an important milestone for RVM Systems and for the retailers we will serve in the UK. It means every store, whatever its size or layout, can find a certified RVM Systems machine that fits. We have built this range on 20,000 RVMs in operation in more than 40 markets, and we are ready to bring that experience to the UK well ahead of launch.” — Niklas Engström, CEO, RVM Systems

The UK Deposit Return Scheme will add a 20p refundable deposit to single-use drinks containers from 150 ml to 3 litres made of PET plastic, steel and aluminium. Retailers can check the certified list before choosing a machine, and contact RVM Systems UK at UKsales@rvmsystems.com for advice on the right model for each store.
